Man arrested for child porn, possession of cannabis plants

Larnaca police on Sunday arrested a man in connection with child pornography and the possession of cannabis plants.

Members of the cybercrime unit searched the apartment of a 27-year-old man in the Larnaca district around noon on Sunday after they were informed by Europol he had shared 26 files showing the sexual abuse of minors with others via a social networking platform.

Two mobile phones were seized during the search.

The drug squad was called to the scene when 13 cannabis plants were discovered in the flat.

The man is being detained pending further investigations.
