Missing teen remanded as suspect in series of burglaries

Limassol court

A 16-year-old Limassol girl who had been reported missing by her family was remanded in custody for eight days on Thursday on suspicion of being involved in at least five burglaries.

The teenager was arrested on Wednesday in Polemidia after officers looking for her found a bag containing jewellery, valuables, and cash thought to have been stolen.

Officers said the girl could not provide convincing explanations regarding the provenance of the valuables, including €1,130 in paper cash and €136 in coins.

A subsequent investigation determined that part of the valuables had been stolen from a home in Polemidia and a car in the same area the previous night.

It later emerged that the 16-year-old was allegedly involved in at least five cases of burglary and theft.
