Pomos actively promoted by tourism board

Pomos has now joined forces with the Paphos regional board of tourism with the aim of upgrading its tourist facilities and welcoming more visitors to the area.

“In the context of implementing strategic goals for strengthening and further development of the district, the Paphos regional board of tourism has recently expanded its forces with the inclusion of the community of Pomos,” it announced.

The Paphos regional board of tourism is collaborating with the ministry of tourism, three municipalities, seven communities and seven other bodies both public and private.

“The community of Pomos has proved its special dynamics in recent years, and through hard work it has managed to upgrade and claim its share of the market,” it added.

Pomos is a small and unspoiled village around 20 km from Polis Chrysochous, situated between the village of Nea Dimmata and Pachyammos.

Pomos has a long coastline with sandy beaches and a small harbour, and is found away from the busier tourist areas of Paphos.

The tourism board and community council have held a number of meetings and have agreed that through a collective effort and hard work, they will aim at further upgrading the area and promoting it both at home and abroad.

Initial priorities set include: landscaping, fighting visual pollution and protecting monuments and points of interest

There is also a consideration of extending the Quality Coast Award to Pomos, completing and promoting cycling routes in the wider area and adapting and promoting nature paths.

Another aim is to upgrade the public beach and the services offered and coordinate the collection of funds from national funds and European programmes.

Efforts to strengthen the connection of the area with public transport will get underway.

“Within the next few days, another meeting of representatives of the two bodies is expected in order to better coordinate and start the implementation of specific actions. The wider region has a future, it has perspective and through collective effort much can be achieved,” the tourism board concluded.
