Strokes: the warning signs and what actions to take

This video is meant to expand your general knowledge about living a healthy life and is NOT a substitute for seeking medical advice. Please consult with your doctor before making changes in your health practices, diet and self-care.

In this video, chiropractor Dr. Alan Mandell runs us through the signs to identify, and first-responder actions to take, if someone in our presence suffers a stroke.

A stroke is a serious life-threatening medical condition that occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is cut off. Strokes are a medical emergency and urgent treatment is essential. The sooner a person receives treatment for a stroke, the less damage is likely to happen.

It follows that being able to identify if someone is having a stroke can literally save that person’s life, because, when it comes to strokes, every second counts. Even hesitating 10-15 minutes after the event to take action could be too long to preserve the victim’s well-being.
