Away from temptation: the Chapel of Agios Antonios in Tala

Despite the present Covid-related travel restrictions, the beautiful natural and urban areas of Cyprus are still accessible to us through the lenses of local creators.

A chapel dedicated to Agios Antonios, or Saint Anthony, located at the edge of Tala village in the Paphos district, forms the subject of this video by wedding photographer and videographer George Avgousti.

The 4K footage depicts a sanctuary with an interior magnificently adorned with Byzantine iconography, offering the faithful an uplifting environment in which to reflect, pray and worship.

The Greek Orthodox saint, Anthony, whose feast is celebrated on January 17, helped spread the concept of Christian monasticism, having famously said to have been tempted in the desert, and is appealed to against infectious diseases, particularly afflictions of the skin.
