Council of Ministers approves energy schemes

The Council of Ministers on Tuesday approved two schemes for the installation or replacement of integrated solar water heating systems and solar panels, as well as for thermal insulation of ceilings and installation of photovoltaic systems.

The total grant for the first scheme amounts to €390,000, while the government allocated over €7m for the second one.

Interested people will be able to apply for the schemes until September. More details will be released next week.

Speaking to the media after the Council of Ministers, Energy Minister Natasa Pilides said the schemes were approved by the Renewable Energy Sources and the Energy Saving Fund (RES and EXE), as well as the government.

She also added that the grant for the schemes could be doubled for houses located in mountainous areas.

Moreover, according to Pilides, for the thermal insulation of ceilings the government grant will cover up to 30 per cent of the total installation costs, while for the thermal insulation of ceilings in combination with the installation of photovoltaic systems the financing will be up to 35 per cent.
