Police said Wednesday they detained two more suspects both men, 33 and 34, in connection with 20 kilos of cannabis seized in Larnaca and Limassol last weekend.

Three suspects were arrested, aged 52, 36, and 34, all men.

The drugs were seized during a drug squad operation in Larnaca at about 6.30pm on Saturday.

After a deal went down, police intercepted two vehicles driven by the 34 and 36-year-olds respectively. Inside the 34-year-old’s car, officers found a kilo of cannabis while a precision scale and a grinder with traces of the drug was found in the other vehicle.

During the operation, the suspects crashed into three police cars in a bid to escape. The 36-year-old also turned his car on an officer on foot and attacked another after coming to a halt.

Shortly afterwards, officers located a 52-year-old in Larnaca who had been spotted earlier in the car with the 36-year-old.

On Sunday, investigators found close to 19 kilos of cannabis in 16 packages stashed in a car parked in a plot in Limassol.

The two fresh arrests concern two men who were linked with the car where the drugs were found.
