Tamassos Bishopric confirmed on Monday evening that Bishop Isaias of Tamassos is positive for Covid-19 after having taken a test on Sunday at 6pm.

The bishop went into self-isolation while his contacts were being traced, the Cyprus News Agency reported, with calls that anyone who been in contact with him from April 9 onwards to contact their personal doctor.

A disinfection was expected to be carried out at the Metropolis of Tamassos and Orinis while the bishop has said he is feeling fine.

According to reports, two other Covid cases were also traced at the metropolis recently.

Last week, four nuns at the Panayia Pantanassa Monastery in Kotsiatis, which belongs to the Holy Metropolis of Tamassos, also tested positive for the virus.

Thirteen other nuns living permanently at the monastery underwent rapid tests which came back negative.
