Teenagers arrested for causing disturbance

Police have arrested four youngsters in Limassol in connection with disturbing the public peace and starting a fire.

At 9.45pm on Thursday police were informed that teenagers had set fire to garbage cans and threw stones at a fire truck which rushed to the scene to extinguish the fire.

Around 20 people were gathered in the area, some of them hooded. When police officers arrived they reportedly threw stones and flares before running away.

Later another group of young people was found standing near a fire in the yard of a church, throwing firecrackers. Most fled while four of them were arrested in the early morning hours on Friday.

Three of them are aged 17 and one is a 15-year-old.
