Coronavirus: One death, 167 new cases (Updated)

The health ministry announced one death and 167 new cases of Covid-19 on Monday.

A 56-year-old man passed away at Limassol hospital, bringing the total death toll to 347, of whom 230 were men and 117 women with an average age of 77.5.

The health ministry no longer announces the vaccination history of the deceased nor whether they had any underlying health conditions.

There are 150 coronavirus patients in hospitals, 46 of whom are in serious condition. Of the 46 patients, 27 are intubated, five are in ICU and 14 in High Dependency Units.

The new cases were found out of a total of 62,304 PCR and rapid tests, giving a positivity rate of 0.27 per cent.

The total number of positives to date is 71,231.

Of the 62,304 tests, 10,564 were PCR, and 51,740 were rapid tests.

The majority, 96 of the 167 new cases, were detected from 50,821 samples taken at health ministry rapid testing sites, with two more found through 919 samples taken by private labs and pharmacies.

Thirty-two positives came from 380 samples taken through contact tracing, while 2,220 samples taken through private initiative yielded 27 positives.

In addition, 7,329 samples were taken at airports with five positives.

Forty-four cases were detected from rapid testing in Nicosia (0.25 per cent positivity rate), 27 in Limassol (0.25 per cent positivity rate), 15 in Larnaca (0.22 per cent positivity rate), one in Paphos (0.02 per cent positivity rate), and five in Famagusta (0.17 per cent positivity rate).
