Coronavirus: Nine people fined after 3,327 checks

Police said they booked nine people after 3,327 checks for violations of coronavirus measures in the 24 hours up to 6am on Thursday.

During the checks, carried out from 6am on Wednesday and 6am on Thursday, Limassol officers booked five people after 549 checks, while Paphos and Famagusta police issued one fine each after 428 and 578 checks respectively. One more person was fined in the capital after 712 checks.

In Morphou no violations were reported after 256 checks.

Traffic police fined one individual after 258 checks.

Port and marine police carried out 94 checks without reporting any violations.

Breaches in coronavirus measures included failure to wear a face mask, and breaking the 1am curfew.
