Two large events for children were organised by the central prison recently, it announced on Sunday, to mark International Children’s Day and to boost its policy of helping prisoners maintain a relationship with their children.

The children were entertained by magicians and other characters in addition to playing football, on bouncy castles and having their faces painted.

The management of the prisons said it considered “it to be very important to support our inmates and their families to develop a good relationship as this will help them achieve a smooth reintegration into society”.

An announcement said activities like those organised are recognised by the Council of Europe as one of the best practical ways to support inmates and their families.
