Man arrested for driving 145km per hour on the highway

A 21-year-old man stopped for speeding on the Limassol-Nicosia highway and found to be driving without insurance and with a suspended licence will appear in court later on Monday.

According to the Cyprus News Agency, the young man was stopped by police on Sunday evening doing 145km per hour. The speed limit on the motorway is 100km per hour.

He was found to be driving with a suspended licence and without insurance and was arrested.

He is due to appear Nicosia Court later on Monday. The owner of the car was called to the police station where he was charged in writing for allowing the young man to use the car even though his licence had been suspended.

Latsia police are handling the investigations.
