Pensioner injured in car accident last month dies in hospital

A 74-year-old woman from Liopetri, Stella Costa Panagi, who was hospitalised in Nicosia last month after a car accident died on Sunday night, authorities said.

She had been in hospital since May 22, the day of the accident.

She had been driving in the village with two other women aged 85 and 64 when their car was hit by a 23-year-old who was later found to have been drunk driving at twice the limit. He also tested positive for drugs.

The two other women were also seriously injured but were treated and discharged when they recovered. The other driver was treated and released the same day.
