Three arrests for illegal employment

handcuffs 04

Paphos police arrested three men, 25, 27 and 28, for working illegally as food delivery drivers, as part of efforts to crack down on illegal employment.

The arrests came after officers from the aliens and immigration office checked 18 food delivery drivers, including two Cypriots, five European citizens and 11 third-country nationals.

The three men reside legally in Cyprus, but police said they were employed illegally as they had not submitted the necessary documents to the labour ministry with their employers and had not received a relevant work permit .

Their two employers are also being investigated, police said.

Checks for illegal employment are continuing daily, the announcement added.
