The company won 2 Gold and 2 Silver awards for its business practices and its innovative actions in Cypriot retail.

Lidl Cyprus was awarded four prizes at the Cyprus Retail Excellence Awards 2020, which were established to highlight the best practices and innovative actions in Cyprus‘ retail and services sectors.

Specifically, Lidl Cyprus won the following awards:

  • Gold award in the “Direct / Experiential / Live Campaign” category for “Lidl Food Academy”, a pan-European innovation in Cyprus. The company was inspired to create a space for learning, training and socialising, by organising cooking classes, nutrition seminars, food and wine tasting, theme nights, free for all customers.
  • Gold award in the “Advertising Campaign” category for the “10 years Lidl. 10 years Quality for less” anniversary campaign, which aimed to enhance the sense of pride in those choosing Lidl Cyprus for their groceries and becoming part of the new concept and European way of thinking that Lidl represents and consistently implements, every single day, by fulfilling the brand promise “Quality for less”.
  • Silver award in the “Contribution to Employment” category for the “Development of the Employer Value Proposition”, a strategic tool that maps the internal needs and wants of employees, the needs of potential employees in the Cypriot job market, but also the top management’s vision.
  • Silver award in the “Creating business opportunities and meeting customer needs in the context of adapting to the new reality caused by the coronavirus pandemic” category for the “Covid-19 policy that Lidl Cyprus implemented to ensure the health of its employees, customers, and suppliers”.

The awards ceremony took place on July 6, in Nicosia, in the presence of the biggest companies in Cyprus’ retail. The awards were received by Lidl Cyprus’ General Manager, Mr Spyros Kondylis, who said: “I feel very happy because these awards are directly intertwined with our company’s philosophy which puts people at the centre of everything we do. The two silver awards are the recognition of a great team effort which confirms -among other things- the effectiveness of the strategy we devised with the outbreak of the pandemic to ensure the health of our employees, customers and suppliers and also our substantial contribution to employment”.

Special mention was made of the two gold awards that Lidl Cyprus won: “I’m doubly proud because Lidl is recognised in the communication field through which our messages are transmitted to society. The two awards we got for the pan-European innovation of Lidl Food Academy and the anniversary campaign of Lidl Cyprus allow us to be optimistic that we are building trusted relationships on solid ground”, added Mr. Kondylis, concluding that these awards also add a greater sense of responsibility for what’s to come.

Lidl Cyprus operates with financial, social and environmental responsibility. By constantly evolving its business model, the company realises actions that are customer-centric, take the responsible use of resources into account, as well as mutual respect with consumers, partners and collaborators on its way to a better tomorrow.
