The full moon always has a touch of enchantment to it and usually brings about wonder, creativity and clarity. Friday’s full moon will bring a unique evening of poetry under the stars. Ideogramma is organising an event called Versopolis-Panselinos with three invited poets sharing their work on the terrace of ARTos Foundation. The exceptional young emerging poets – Eduard Escoffet from Catalonia, Spain and Avgi Lilli and Constantinos Papageorgiou from Cyprus – will meet to share their poetry and vision.

Lovers of the word and anyone else are invited to join the event at ARTos Foundation and get to know the three poets and their work. After their readings, a conversation will follow with the awarded author Myrto Azina-Chronidou.

All three poets are published writers and involved in various fields of the literature world. Escoffet is a poet and entrepreneur and the former director of the Barcelona Poetry Festival. Lately, he has focused his interests on sonorous poetry and live recital. Lilli has published two poetry collections in Greek and as a poet she focuses on the deconstruction of language and meaning. Her poetry has been characterised as a refreshing feminist poetics of fragmentation while she has also participated in numerous festivals including the 2019 European Poetry Festival in London and the 4th Sardam interdisciplinary literature festival in Limassol. Papageorgiou has published two poetry collections and in 2019 was awarded Best Young Poet by the Cyprus Writers Union for his unpublished book The Postcards I Haven’t Sent.

The event will be bilingual, in Greek and English, but the poets will read in the original language of their work, while translations in English and Greek will be projected on a screen. Versopolis – Panselinos in Cyprus is part of a series of events and actions of the Versopolis Platform, a European poetry festival, on which Ideogramma has been hosting Cypriot emerging poets and writers since 2019.

But it’s not just spoken poetry that the evening will include. This year’s event takes place in cooperation with the Department of Arts – Graphic Design (BA) of the European University Cyprus, and students of the course Sound and Motion will create video-poems with the use of motion graphics that will be showcased during the event, adding another aspect to the starry event.
