Two more people have been arrested in connection with the attack on Dias media group and the protest outside the presidential palace on July 18, police said on Friday.

This brings the number of suspects arrested to 17, while police have published photos of additional people who are suspected of vandalising the building which houses Sigma and assaulted its staff.

Investigations into the attack continue by Nicosia, Larnaca and Limassol-based officers, police said early on Friday.

The arrests, concern people aged between 25 and 64, including epidemiologist Elpidoforos Soteriades, who was a speaker at Sunday’s event and is suspected of being among the organisers or instigators.

The attackers were among the around 5,000 protesting outside the Presidential Palace last Sunday against the SafePass. After the protest, the group went to Dias media group where they set company vehicles on fire, damaged employee cars, and trashed the lobby of the station and other areas.
