A 29-year-old woman, wanted on an international arrest warrant for money laundering and fraud, was detained after arriving at Paphos’ airport, police said on Friday.

The woman arrived in Cyprus on a flight from Moscow. During a passport check, airport employees realised that there was an international arrest warrant against her, issued by the United States of America.

The warrant concerns crimes related to money laundering and fraud, committed in 2017.

A hearing to extradite the woman to the USA is expected later today.
