Coronavirus: No complications for children, infant with virus, hospital says

The Makarios hospital

The three small children with coronavirus including week-old newborn remain in good health, the assistant director of paediatrics at the Makarios Children’s Hospital Marianna Kousparou said on Tuesday.

Answering questions from journalists, Kousparou said there were no complications.

The infant and two other children aged 14 months and two years are being treated for Covid at the hospital, it emerged late on Monday.

The infant was said to have entered the hospital on Saturday with fever.

“The baby is under the supervision of neonatologists…and is in good condition,” said Kousparou.

However, there are concerns due to his young age since his immune system has not been fully developed yet.

The other two babies were said to be “in good health and do not have any complications,” the doctor added.
