Two deaths and 147 new coronavirus cases were announced on Sunday by the health ministry.

The deaths concern a 52-year-old man and an 83-year-old woman. The number of people who have died from Covid-19 so far is 515: 333 men and 182 women.

There are 143 patients with coronavirus in hospital, 46 of whom are in serious condition. Fifteen patients are intubated.

The new cases were among 29,833 PCR and rapid tests, a positivity rate of 0.49 per cent.

Seven of the new cases were passengers at the Larnaca and Paphos airports.

The rest of the cases concern 35 people who got PCR tests privately and 50 who got rapid tests privately. One case concerns a sample processed in state hospitals’ labs.

Another 54 were among the rapid tests carried out in all districts on behalf of the health ministry. Among them were three cases detected during tests in closed structures. In the Nicosia district, 32 cases were detected among 6,300 tests. In Limassol, nine people were found positive (3,185), five in Larnaca (1,373), four in Paphos (1,219) and one in the Famagusta district (980).

So far 116,768 cases were recorded.
