Time for a good laugh

There is a kind of healing power to be in a laughing crowd, hearing everyone around you having a good time. It’s why they say laughter is the best medicine. Though it is also safe to say that there has been less gathering in crowds lately and fewer chances for group laughter. One upcoming comedy show aims to stand out and entertain big time. UK comedian Russell Kane is coming to Cyprus for one night only for a stand-up comedy show in Nicosia. Oh, and it’s in English!

On September 17 Pallas Theatre will welcome this multi-award-winning comedian, presenter, actor, author and scriptwriter, who is best known for his stand-up, panel show and chat show appearances. “Packing more energy than a Duracell factory on a nuclear reactor, Russell’s strutting, the turbo-laugh engine will be in the building live and direct,” say the organisers.

Currently on tour throughout the UK, North Macedonia and Athens, Kane will travel to Cyprus for a performance, before continuing to Dubai. The Telegraph has described him as “one of a kind”, The Independent as a “frenetic comedian” and just by watching a glimpse of his sets on YouTube, it’s evident how energy-packed his shows are.

He was nominated four times for the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Awards before winning Best Show in 2010. He then went on to making history as the first comedian to win both the Edinburgh Award and Melbourne Comedy Festival’s Barry Award in one year. Most recently, Kane travelled the world with YouTube stars filming the new survival programme Stupid Man, Smart Phone, which is due to air on BBC Three in the UK this year.

When he’s not filming, recording for his podcast Man Baggage or performing at the legendary UK comedy venue Live at the Apollo Kane is touring. This month, the acclaimed comedian is bringing his stand-up comedy show to Nicosia, for one of the island’s rare comedy nights in English!
