A 33-year-old Limassol resident was remanded for six days on Wednesday as police investigate a case of possession and alleged sale of fake euro banknotes.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday evening after police, following a tip off, found in an abandoned warehouse in a Limassol area the 33-year-old and another man, who managed to escape. They also found seven €200 bills, ten €100 bills and ten €50 bills that were later found to be fake as they had the same serial number.

Police were investigating reports concerning the sale by a person of counterfeit banknotes at lower price than the bills’ value.

The 33-year-old man made various claims that are being investigated, police said.
