Tourist arrested for being drunk and disorderly

A 40-year-old Briton was arrested on Tuesday night for assaulting police officers who were trying to restrain him after employees of the hotel he was staying at in the Paphos district reported him for drunk and disorderly behaviour.

According to a police statement, the man, who is in Cyprus on holiday, allegedly caused damage to the hotel premises at around 3am.

Moreover, when police officers arrived at the scene, he started throwing items at them and had to be physically restrained before being taken into custody.

The 40-year-old is now being investigated for causing malicious damage while intoxicated, causing alarm, and assaulting and insulting police officers.
