One person died and 94 new Covid cases were reported on Sunday, the ministry of health said.

The death means 558 people have died since the start of the pandemic, 354 of whom were men and 204 women.

The latest death refers to a 53-year-old woman who died on Saturday in the Nicosia general hospital.

Meanwhile, there were 60 patients in hospital, 22 of whom are in serious condition.

Of the 22 patients 11 are intubated in ICU and 11 are in high dependency units.

Meanwhile 10 post-Covid patients remain intubated in ICU units.

Of all hospital patients 60 have no history of vaccination.

A total of 38,802 PCR and rapid tests were carried out, meaning the positivity rate was 0.24 per cent.

From Sunday’s tests 4,809 were PCR and 33,993 rapid tests.

From the PCR tests six cases were found among 3,442 tests carried out at Larnaca and Paphos airports while 25 were found among 1,312 tests carried out on private initiative.

One case was found among 55 tests carried out at labs in state hospitals.

Meanwhile 32 cases were found among 15,384 rapid tests carried out at private labs and clinics.

A further 30 cases were found from 18,609 tests carried out at the state’s free rapid testing sites.
