Coronavirus: Five businesses, 18 individuals booked

Five businesses and 18 individuals were booked for violating coronavirus measures in the last 24 hours, police said early on Thursday.

The fines came after 3,195 nationwide checks carried out between 6am on Wednesday and 6am on Thursday.

Most checks, 1,354, were conducted in Nicosia where officers booked three people and one betting shop.

Another business and one person were booked in Limassol following 214 inspections, while three people, including a cafeteria owner, were fined in Larnaca after 649 checks.

In Paphos, a second betting shop was booked and another coffee shop, as well as seven individuals after 207 checks.

Meanwhile, five people were booked in Famagusta after 319 checks.

No violations were reported by Morphou officers, traffic, marine and port police.

Breaches in coronavirus measures include failure to wear a facemask and carry a SafePass.
