Coronavirus: Vaccination portal open for appointments

The Vaccination Portal reopened on Friday with officials urging beneficiaries to go ahead with the first and third dose of the Covid-19 jab, as the fully vaccinated in Cyprus have reached 79 per cent.

A Ministry of Health press release said that in an effort to encourage vaccination of beneficiaries against Covid-19 and develop the maximum possible protection of the population, appointments for vaccination with the first dose and with the third dose are available following a technical upgrade to the Vaccination Portal from Friday.

Appointments for new vaccinations (first dose), are open to all aged 12 and over.

Regarding the third dose, the Vaccination Portal is accessible to people aged 65 and over, provided that six months have elapsed since vaccination with the second dose.

The press release reminded that for the administration of any dose of vaccine, citizens can also be served at walk-in vaccination centers that operate islandwide.

A total of 26,097 persons were vaccinated with the third dose according to figures up to October 13.

The vaccination percentage of the adult population with at least the first dose is at 81.5 per cent and of those fully vaccinated at 79 per cent. In the age group of 16-17 years, 41.5 per cent was administered with the first dose and 38.8 er cent completed their vaccination scheme.

In the age group of 12-15 years, 27.4 per cent was administered with the first dose and 24.6 per cent received both doses, completing their vaccination scheme.
