Coronavirus: One business and 16 people fined after 3,667 checks

One business and 16 people were booked as part of the daily checks for breaches of coronavirus measures, police said on Monday.

The fines resulted from 3,667 checks, carried out between 6am on Sunday and 6am on Monday.

Nicosia officers conducted 1,557 inspections and booked three people, while four people and one business were fined in Limassol after 258 checks and another three in Larnaca after 740 checks.

Five people were also booked in Paphos after 199 inspections and one in Famagusta following 233 checks.

In Morphou, no violations were reported after 233 checks.

Traffic, marine and port police also conducted 206 and 178 checks respectively, without any bookings.

Violations include failure to wear a facemask or carry a SafePass among others.
