Coronavirus: 15 fines after 2,540 checks

Police on Tuesday said they issued 15 fines following 2,540 checks for the implementation of coronavirus protocols in the last 24 hours.

Most checks, 1,037, were carried out in Nicosia, where two people were booked as well as one cafeteria after its manager was found working without a face mask. The establishment received a €500 fine, police said.

Three people were fined in Limassol after 192 checks, two in Larnaca following 530 inspections, three in Paphos after 128 checks, four in Famagusta following 304 checks, while no violations were reported in Morphou after 219 checks.

Traffic, marine and port police also conducted 127 and three checks respectively without reporting any violations.

The checks were carried out between 6am on Monday and 6am on Tuesday.
