Coronavirus: 20 fines after 2,417 checks

Two businesses and 18 individuals were booked for various violations of the coronavirus measures after 2,417 checks in the government-controlled areas, police said on Wednesday.

About half of the checks, 1,205, were carried out in Nicosia where six people were booked, while five people and one business were fined in Limassol after just 192 checks.

Five people were also booked in Famagusta after 291 checks and two in Larnaca during 480 inspections.

No violations were reported in Paphos or Morphou.

Traffic, marine and port police also conducted 164 and 21 checks respectively, without any bookings.

The checks were carried out between 6am on Tuesday and 6am on Wednesday.
