Nicosia police on Saturday said they were investigating a case of illegal possession of drugs with intent to supply after arresting a 17-year-old from Limassol with 37 grams of cannabis in his possession.

Around 4pm on Friday, officers were checking a group of students who were on an overnight trip to Nicosia.

They reportedly noticed one of them grabbing his bag and quickly walking away in an attempt to dodge the check.

When they caught up with him they discovered he was 17 years old, and seized about 37 grams of cannabis from his backpack.

The boy was then arrested and put in police custody while investigations continue.
