The Republic will continue to supply Turkish Cypriots with power until January 4, it was reported on Wednesday.

The Cyprus News Agency said a fresh request was received on Wednesday after the previous agreement expired.

The Republic transfers between 30 and 35Mw daily between 4pm and 9.30pm.

The north is experiencing frequent power interruption after a malfunction of the generators at its two power stations.

The two sides have helped each other with power in the past.

In 2015, it was decided to link the two grids on a permanent basis as part of a series of measures to build confidence between the two communities.
