Game and fauna service officers helped rescue a flamingo that was found with a string wrapped around its legs and neck in Aliki salt lake in Larnaca over the weekend.

The rescue is shown in a video published on twitter late on Monday by a Chinese platform in the island called HomeinCyprus Chinese.

The video, spanning more than two minutes long, shows the distressed flamingo struggling to move as two game officers come to its rescue.

They had to pull the bird out of the lake to disentangle its legs before they set it free again.

In the description, the platform suggested the incident was first reported by a passer-by Chinese student.

The platform also sent a message against fly-tipping, calling for people to “treasure these elegant creatures and protect our beautiful island”.
