Disy leader Averof Neophytou has come up with another idea for persuading foreign minister Nicos Christodoulides come clean about his intentions regarding next year’s presidential elections. Neophytou announced on Friday that if Christodoulides decided to submit his name for selection as Disy’s presidential candidate by Monday’s deadline, he would stand down and declare leadership elections.
This was an answer to claims in the media that Christodoulides would not have a chance of winning a party vote for the presidential candidacy because Neophytou had firm control of Disy.
