Two charged as police checks continue on Chlorakas

Coordinated police operations in Chlorakas continued over Saturday night with two people found illegally staying in the area charged.

A new operation was staged on Saturday lasting from the afternoon to midnight, which saw officers from Paphos police headquarters, the Crime Prevention Unit, Mmad, the Drugs squad and airport security take part.

According to a police spokesman during the operation checks were carried out at an apartment complex to check that no more asylum seekers had settled there, as a decree issued by the interior ministry states. Traffic police also carried out checks.

Two people were found in an apartment in violation of the decree, and after they were charged in writing they were released to appear in court at a later date.

A total o 25 cars were also checked and one traffic offence lodged.
