The health ministry announced that five people had died of Covid-19 and that 2,120 had tested positive from 83,144 PCR and rapid tests, a positivity rate of 2.55 per cent.
The deaths concerned five men aged 85, 88, 76, 82, 68. The total deaths stands at 785.
There are 180 people in hospitals of whom 37 are in serious condition. Of these, eight are intubated.
The ministry said that the percentage of unvaccinated patients was 68 per cent.
Of the 83,144 tests, 6,893 were PCR that detected 320 positives, and 76,251 were rapid tests, yielding 1,800 positives.
Contact tracing saw 112 PCR tests with 9 positives.
With private initiative, there were 2,043 PCR tests and 251 positives.
There were 43,233 rapid tests performed on private initiative with 1,065 positives.
Under the health ministry’s free programme there were 33,018 rapid tests and 735 positives.
Nursing homes had 380 rapid tests carried out with 16 positives.
In closed structures there were 119 rapid tests with no new cases.
