Three Covid-19 deaths and 3,894 infections were announced by the health ministry on Saturday evening, while hospitalisations once again rose above 200.

The Covid-19 death toll has now risen to 940, while confirmed infections since the pandemic began now total 436,949.

The ministry added that 201 patients are hospitalised with Covid-19, 33 of whom are in serious condition, while 52.74 per cent of those in hospital with the virus are unvaccinated.

The deaths were two men aged 101 and 91 and a woman aged 82.

Saturday’s infections were uncovered following 79,660 tests having been carried out, with a positivity rate of 4.89 per cent. Rapid tests accounted for 76,467 of the checks.

Care homes recorded 45 positives as a result of 820 rapid tests, a rate of 5.49 per cent.
