Ministry warns of high levels of dust

The department of labour has warned of high concentrations of dust in the air on Sunday with vulnerable groups urged to remain inside.

Measurements taken at 7am showed 76.4μg/m3 of dust in the air in Nicosia, 42.7μg/m3 in Limassol, 76.2μg/m3 in Larnaca, 77.9μg/m3 in Paralimni, and 138.9μg/m3 in Paphos.

‘Dust’ refers to respirable particulate matter of a diameter smaller than 10μm (PM10) in the air. According to the relevant legislation, th allowed level should not exceedan average of 50μg/m3.
