Korai Project Space in Nicosia is hosting free cinema screenings this weekend featuring Latin American LGBT films seeking to show a sample of films released in the 2000s and to discuss the region’s experience in the new century.

Friday will kick off the cinema showcase with two films that aim to set the LGBT scene. The 2019 Sugar Daddy short film will launch the screenings, lasting only 13 minutes, followed by 2007’s Transfiction, running for 57 minutes. Once the screenings are over, Korai will open up the floor for conversation and dialogue.

Day two will focus on the theme of Transbodies and Transitions with Brazilian film screenings starting at 7pm. Three films are scheduled: the 2020 film Limiar (77 minutes), then the 2017 blasFemea (70 minutes) and finally the 2018 Bicha Travesty (75 minutes).

The final day of screenings, Sunday, will touch on portrayals of queer youth with two long feature films and one short film on the agenda. Brazilian film Eu não Quero Voltar Sozinho will be shown first, followed by the 2015 Beira-Mar and finally the Venezuelan Pelo Malo film will wrap up the showcase.
