Ukrainian children can enrol in Cyprus school says ministry

05

As part of Cyprus’ policy to aid Ukrainian refugees, the education ministry on Wednesday announced that children coming from Ukraine can enrol in public schools where they will receive the support they need to continue their education.

The ministry has made arrangements with the embassy of Ukraine in Cyprus and, taking into account the possible numbers, the children may be able to continue following the Ukrainian school curriculum remotely from Cypriot schools.

Special areas in schools will be provided in each city for this purpose, the ministry said.

Those interested can receive information about the programme and express their interest at the school where they plan to enrol their children. The ministry reminds parents that according to the law, all children must be enrolled in school.

Therefore, interested parents from Ukraine should contact the school in the area where they are staying to enrol their children and to get all the information they need.

Where necessary, additional facilities will be set up.

Those interested can obtain information by calling the special helpline for Ukrainian refugees which is open from 8am to 8pm daily. If calling from a Cypriot number, the helpline is 1477. For foreign numbers it’s +357 22 285777.
