Paphos police were on Wednesday seeking a 28-year-old for firing a gun in a residential area, illegal possession of a hunting gun and bearing a weapon to cause terror.

According to spokesman Michalis Nicolaou, a 57-year-old woman called the police on Tuesday night after noticing some marks around her bedroom window she suspected to be from gunshots.

Paphos CID officers visited the scene, and found traces of hunting rifle pellets on the aluminium window.

It was estimated that the shots were fired in the early hours of Easter Sunday around 4.30am, as the woman heard a noise but did not pay attention.

The 57-year-old said she was suspicious of the 28-year-old as he had previously made threats against the family after breaking up with their daughter, who he had been dating.

An arrest warrant has been issued against the man and he is currently being sought by police.
