A 31-year-old man seen holding a hunting rifle in a park as he searched for a 10-year-old boy who had allegedly insulted him was remanded in custody for four days by Limassol district court on Wednesday, the Cyprus News Agency reported.

At the sight of the gun, the boy’s 13-year-old sister fainted and was taken to the A&E department of Limassol hospital where she was administered first aid and discharged, it added.

The case was reported to Limassol police by the teen. She told police that at around 20.15 on Tuesday evening, when she was in the park with other children, she had seen the suspect with the hunting rifle looking for her brother who had earlier reportedly insulted him.

The girl fainted, the suspect fled, and police were called to the scene. They obtained a warrant and arrested him at around 3.00 am. He appeared in court which remanded him in custody to facilitate police inquiries.
