Former ambassador named SG of tripartite cooperation mechanism

The Council of Ministers has appointed Alexandros N. Zenon, former Ambassador and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to the position of Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat for the Tripartite Cooperation Mechanisms with countries in the region, it was announced on Thursday.

At its meeting on Wednesday, cabinet also appointed Minas Hadjimichael, former Ambassador and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the Personal Representative of the President of the Republic to the Permanent Council of the International Organization of the Francophonie.

Both Zenon and Hadjimichael will offer their services without remuneration and their term expires on February 28, 2023, at the end of the term of the current government, following consultation with the Legal Service, the official announcement added.

The Foreign Ministry expressed its warm and sincere thanks to the outgoing representative of the President of the Republic to the Permanent Council of the International Organisation of the Francophonie, Andreas Pirishi, who worked with dedication and professionalism to fulfill his mission.
