A 20-year-old man was remanded for six days by Paphos district court on Tuesday in connection with forged prescriptions.

He was the front seat passenger in a car driven by a 33-year-old man against whom arrest warrants had  been pending.

In the possession of the 20-year-old man three forged prescriptions were found which also named a doctor. The prescriptions included a drug containing codeine, which is a substitute for a narcotic substance.

Head of Paphos CID Michalis Nicolaou said the named doctor has been ill and does not work so it is impossible for him to have signed the prescriptions.

After a search at the house of the 20-year-old police found the doctor’s seal with his name on it, as well as several bottles of the drug.

The 20-year-old man denies any involvement with the case.
