Lawmakers to return to official parliament building

Both the plenum and House committees are set to return to the permanent parliament headquarters on Nicosia’s Nehru Avenue from May 30, following the relaxation of Covid-19 measures.

The House moved to the capital’s more spacious Philoxenia Conference Centre in May 2020 as it was impossible to apply health and safety measures against the coronavirus in the old building, because of the smaller size of the committee rooms.

The lease for the Philoxenia centre expired last December but was extended until mid-2022.
