A mainly fine weekend lies ahead, though Friday will see some cloud and the possibility of afternoon showers, the met office said in its early morning weather forecast.

There may also be light dust at intervals on Friday and on Saturday, it added.

Friday will be initially mainly fine however increased cloud at intervals in the afternoon may lead to scattered showers, mainly in the mountains. Temperatures will rise to 38C inland, around 34C on the south, east and north coasts, 31C on the west coast and around 29C on the higher mountains.

Friday night will see increased cloud at intervals that may lead to scattered showers as well as possible isolated storms, mainly in the north, inland and in the east. Temperatures will be fall to 21C inland, around 22C on the coast and around 16C on the higher mountains.

The weekend and Monday will be mainly fine with increased cloud at intervals in the mountains in the afternoons.

Temperatures are expected to edge down on Saturday to close to average for the time of year but will rise again to above the seasonal average by Monday.
