Cynical and snarky attitude to village tourism

Dear editor,

Your editorial, ‘Why does every village have to be a tourist attraction?’ in the Cyprus Mail on Thursday June16, 2022, on the Deputy Ministry of Tourism’s initiative to promote tourism in the villages was somewhat cynical, if not snarky. Any initiative to promote tourism should be judged on the results, surely? It does not appear that the ministry’s aim is to homogenise Cyprus villages but to show the side of Cyprus that may be less well known than its beaches.

Yours sincerely,

Claire Pillar
