Alphamega Hypermarkets’ second distribution centre has been up and running for some time now, as part of the second phase of the company’s e-commerce strategy. It is anticipated to help considerably in covering the island-wide demand for orders via the chain’s e-shop.

The new distribution centre, located in Limassol, will expand its coverage in Paphos and Limassol, while increasing deliveries. Certain coastal areas in the Paphos district, such as Polis Chrysochous, Argaka, Latchi, Neo Chorio, Kathikas, Akoursos, Koili, Mesa Chorio and Yiolou, are already being served by the second centre, while the Nicosia centre is expected to offer broader coverage in the Famagusta and Larnaca districts.

By operating the second distribution centre and doubling its vehicle fleet, the company has increased daily deliveries and shortened travel distances. Already, the delivery time window for Alphamega’s e-shop has reduced to one hour, meaning shoppers can receive their deliveries within 60 minutes.

“The increased number of online orders that the Alphamega Hypermarkets e-shop has been receiving since it was launched, accelerated our plans to implement phase two of our e-commerce strategy, with the aim of optimising the service we offer customers,” said, Alphamega Chief Information Officer Andreas Demetriou.

“The second distribution centre will contribute significantly to covering the huge demand, by bolstering our delivery service, so that our customers can get their shopping faster,” he continued.

“With the use of specialised technology, we have managed to increase the number of deliveries and reduce delivery times; we are committed to continuously upgrading the shopping experience of our customers, and we are working non-stop to achieve this.”

Alphamega customers who shop online benefit from the special offer for free delivery on purchases over €100, as well as a reduced delivery fee (ranging from €5.95 to €2.95) for total purchases under €100.
