The problems faced by health centres in the mountains are on the way to being solved, Health Minister Michalis Hadjipantela said on Saturday visiting the Troodos hospital in Kyperounta.

Speaking about that hospital, Hadjipantela said there was an issue with the contractor over a particular building, which has now been solved while building works will be completed by August.

Once this has finished nurses will be appointed to the facility and which will start operations “as soon as possible”.

Mountains commissioner Costas Hambiaouris said a lot of things will change and promised residents better days ahead.

“Today’s visit is part of plans announced by the President to implement the national strategy for the development of mountain communities, and to improve the existing heath services to people of the area,” he said.

“The people of the mountains deserve better days and these are coming,” Hambiaouris added.
