Police have seized four kilos of cannabis from a motorist they stopped during a traffic stop on Saturday evening, they said.

Around 6.45pm, drugs-squad officers and traffic police on patrol stopped a car driven by a 23-year-old.
In a subsequent search of the vehicle, they found four plastic bags containing cannabis, which later weighed at four kilos.

The 23-year-old was arrested.

In a second incident around the same time, Larnaca police, with a warrant, searched the home of a 26-year-old man in Larnaca.

During the search, they found small packages of cocaine weighing 80 grammes and 160 grammes of cannabis, they said.

They also found four precision electronic scales, 36,750 euros in cash and a firearm.
The suspect was arrested.

Both men were remanded for eight days by the Larnaca court later on Sunday.
